I'm thinking about doing a documentary style film, that centres on what happens on the Tyne and Wear metro. I think this will be an interesting premise for a film as there are many different things that happen on the metro, and we could copy them with actors at a quiet time in order to make the film for natural feeling, and to have a clear purpose, instead of looking like I have just filmed people on the train. I have chosen a documentary because of the massive influx of documentaries that have hit our screens recently, (mostly channel 4). An example of this is benefits street.

Although this show is not in exactly the same genre as I a using, I think I can take a lot of information from this which will benefit my film in the long run. I will be able to analyse the type of shots that are used and the timing of which they are selected, and integrate my findings into my film. This also helps me to analyse what pleases audiences, and what they like to see, because the show is not particularly pleasant, yet still managed to bring in massive views.

  1. Remember that if you opt to do a short film you wil also need to look at documentary style films - wheras "Benefits Street" is a reaity TV Programme. However, I do understand your point that there will be similarities in camera work.
